About Hayhut
HAYHUTS LLC, is a Florida registered corporation headquartered in the peaceful little township of Deleon Springs that borders the spectacularly unspoiled Lake Woodruff National Wildlife refuge.
Company owner, Denis Thornton, is a retired British Navy fighter pilot who served for 25 years including 3 years instructing US Marine Corps pilots to safely fly AV8a Harrier 'jump' jets. 'SEMPER FI!'
His wife, Jean, is a former resident of Minnesota who seemed only too keen to move south to sunny Florida with her top competing Lipizzaner stallion to start a visionary horse breeding operation that now leads the USA in the production of large palomino Warmblood sporthorses. She was able to bring a sense of 'cold reality' when it came to the design of the Hayhut for northern climes!
While designed by Denis in Florida, the Hayhut actually ships from Missouri where it is produced by a process known as rotational molding. Roto molding lends itself to great inherent strength in products and particularly in corners and at seams; hence the careful and precise design of the ribs in the Hayhuts. In addition,the mold itself has to be cleverly designed to allow for the release of the part once shrinkage due to cooling has occured. We are proud to say that the mold was skillfully manufactured by diligent young American craftsmen in Missouri.
Finally, no American 'about' page is ever complete without mention of the family pets Though we have 18 (or maybe 19 /20 ?) horses, pride of place has to go to Denis's constant travelling companion, the famous 'Hayhuts Hound" who can be seen or heard in most of the videos and who has endured 20,000 + miles of road travel as Denis has initiated new dealers around the country and attended many expos with his 'Beverly Hillbillies' rig.
